In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Iyarhe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations.

We acknowledge that the territory we work from is home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta District 6. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.

This sacred gathering place provides us with an opportunity to engage in and demonstrate leadership on reconciliation. Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment to join our team on the lands of Treaty 7 territory.

The rohe of Ngāti Toa Rangatira spans both Te Ika-a-Māui and Te Waipounamu, extending from the Rangitīkei River in the north across the Kāpiti Coast, the Hutt Valley, and Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), including Kāpiti and Mana Islands. This rohe encompasses significant parts of the Marlborough Sounds and much of northern Te Waipounamu. Within Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Ngāti Toa shares mana whenua responsibilities alongside Te Āti Awa and Taranaki Whānui.

Te Āti Awa and Taranaki Whānui hold deep ancestral ties to this region, particularly within Te Whanganui-a-Tara and the Hutt Valley, stemming from their historic migrations and continued cultural presence. Recognition of these iwi and their enduring kaitiakitanga is vital to all activities and initiatives taking place within their rohe.
