  • The Ruatoki installation demonstrates how AR+IQ applies kaupapa Māori to spatial computing and ethical AI. Developed by iSPARX™ in collaboration with Te Uru Taumatua and local artists, the project activated a geospatial Augmented Reality (AR) experience rooted in Ngāi Tūhoe perspectives. Users accessed the AR+IQ platform through mobile devices, revealing location-based digital narratives across selected cultural sites in Ruatoki.

This initiative was part of the broader AR+concierge™ series, investigating how shared AR experiences influence the “suspension of disbelief”—a critical factor in user trust and immersion. By blending 3D visual storytelling with live environmental triggers, the installation offered an intuitive interface for cultural education and place-based learning. Each interaction was guided by AI-powered avatars developed through co-design with iwi, reinforcing mana whenua and tino rangatiratanga.

Backed by ethical data practices and academic research through academyEX, the Ruatoki site served both as a prototype and a proof-of-concept for Indigenous-led immersive systems. It showcased AR+IQ’s core capabilities: spatial anchoring, co-creation tools, and multi-user interaction in real-world settings. This case reflects iSPARX™’s commitment to cultural sovereignty, technological equity, and sustainable digital futures.

  • Discover Porirua is a location-aware mobile experience designed to showcase the rich cultural landscape of Porirua through augmented reality. Built on the AR+IQ platform, this community-first project invites locals and visitors to explore hidden stories, historical sites, and contemporary landmarks through bilingual, immersive media.

Developed in partnership with Porirua City and supported by local artists, educators, and mana whenua, the app layers spatial storytelling across civic spaces. Users can navigate te ao Māori perspectives alongside civic histories, engaging with 3D artworks, archival content, and interactive narratives that centre local identity. From parks and trails to waterfronts and civic buildings, each point-of-interest activates with digital content in both te reo Māori and English.

Discover Porirua reflects the city’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural expression. It features works from community artists, local schools, and cultural institutions—ensuring diverse voices are represented and celebrated. With its intuitive map-based interface, users can follow curated trails or discover sites on foot, guided by real-time geospatial triggers and multimedia content.

The project exemplifies how immersive technology can support civic pride, cultural revitalisation, and intergenerational learning. More than just a tourism tool, Discover Porirua is a living digital archive—one that empowers communities to shape, share, and sustain their stories in place.

  • GigBox is an immersive media platform developed by iSPARX™ in collaboration with Slang Social Media Corp, designed to enhance live music experiences through real-time digital interaction. Built using the AR+IQ engine, GigBox delivers location-aware content, live-streamed media, and artist-driven storytelling directly to audience devices—before, during, and after performances.

Designed for festivals, concerts, and touring acts, GigBox enables artists and promoters to engage audiences through dynamic AR visuals, merch integration, geofenced fan rewards, and backstage media drops. The platform supports mobile and XR devices, offering both on-site and remote users a rich, synchronised experience that extends the energy of live performance into digital space.

Community is central to GigBox. The platform allows artists to upload their own immersive content, connect with fans through personalised interactions, and drive ongoing engagement post-event. Its analytics tools also offer insights into fan behaviour, allowing performers to tailor their outreach and grow loyal followings.

GigBox will be tested across venues in North America, with successful rollouts at music festivals and artist showcases. It exemplifies how AR+IQ can be applied to the music sector—turning passive spectators into active participants in a spatial, social, and artist-led ecosystem.
