Ministry of Culture & Heritage Innovation Fund Application

At Matariki 2021 we will introduce a series of events & technologies to Poneke - Wellington region event calendar to entice & encourage engagement with Māori exhibitions, performance & art.

iSPARX.group Limited is an immersive technology agency & App developer for the Arts & GLAM sector with a diverse roster of clients.
iSPARX.group is a Platinum Foundation Sponsor of Pataka ART+Museum; National Digital Forum Award recipient for Innovation in Technology (Hinatore, Te Papa); & we’ve developed immersive media Apps, exhibitions & installations for artists, organisations & events since 2016 - primarily in Arts & GLAM domestically & internationally.

We have made significant private investment since 2016 in R&D & design for the iSPARX platform; a recent JV for further development of our media & content studios - InDigi/ART 5g Facility - the first indigenous 5G art facility in the World.

iSPARX - Immersive Space Programme Augmented Reality Exchange is a configurable dynamic catalogue of 360° & immersive content & 3D augmented reality assets for modular & custom mobile browser applications.  We are a leader in our field internationally.

We have developed three templates for AR+guide on the iSPARX platform:

• artists & musicians;
• galleries, museums & venues (including Marae);
• events, locations & heritage trails.

The templates follow a prescribed experience involving traditional content & provenance with options of immersive media.

Initially we will offer the AR+guide to selected participants in Wellington & Auckland regions with a focus on Matariki exhibitions & installations, July 2021.  Our intention is to follow this with a project based on media & content involving exhibitions & interactive educational content of the 1981 Springbok Tour.  We expect over 100 participant organisations & individual artists to benefit from this initial offering.

We are presently propagating content for a Pataka ART+Museum series of Heritage trails in the Porirua area.  Our work at Pataka has included an bi-lingual te reo & english interactive installation for children & a planned exhibition featuring Mana Island & Ngati Toa stories.  The platform empowers diverse communities & physically impaired access.  As a hybrid activity provides proven international engagement - even under COVID-19 circumstances.

AR+guide platform can scale indefinitely - a potential for a complete catalogue of every active exhibition throughout Aotearoa.  Our model allows for galleries to list their present exhibitions (2D catalogue of images) with provenance & artists profiles.  A subscription option will allow archive & immersive media (360° media; video interviews; webinar streaming exhibitions; & commerce).  We also have significant sponsorship models & opportunities that will allow us to offer scholarships to emerging artists.
